Following five years of marriage and 16 years together, actors Jason Momoa and Lisa Bonet have split. On Wednesday, the news was announced in a joint written statement on Instagram.
“We’ve all felt the strain and adjustments of these transformative times… A transformation is taking place, and our family is no exception… We are feeling and growing from the seismic changes that are happening around us,” his post read in part. “And so, we have something to tell you: Our Family news…”
They’ve informed that they are now “ending their marriage.”
The two stated, “You’re probably wondering why we’d want to leave a company that’s been so wonderful for us. Well, as you’ve guessed, things have changed at the firm and we’d like to move on with honesty and dignity.”
“Our love grows and evolves in directions it desires to be recognized and lived. We set each other free to be who we’re becoming… Our unwavering devotion to this holy existence, as well as our children, endures.”

Momoa and Bonet, who’ve been married since 2017, are the parents of Lola Iolani, 12, and Nakoa-Wolf Manakauapo Namakaeha, 10. The two met in 2005 and tied the knot in 2017.
Lisa Bonet is also the mother of actress Zoe Kravitz, who she shares with rocker Lenny Kravitz. The pair were married from 1987 to 1993.
In 2021, while filming “Aquaman 2,” Momoa suffered several injuries that made it difficult for him to live his life to the fullest.
“I think that something scratched up my eye, and it required surgery, but I’ve been cleared,” he said on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” in October.
He also stated that he had a hernia and that his “ribs were out.”
“I’m being assaulted,” he explained. After attending the premiere of his film Dune, Willis said he had been diagnosed with coronavirus, adding that the tests were conducted for a different reason.
He continued, “I met a lot of people in England and got a lot of aloha from them. Who knows?” he wrote on Instagram at the time.
The reps of Dacre Montgomery, Zoë Kravitz, and Lenny Kravitz did not respond to Fox News‘ request for comment, while Bonet’s reps said there was “nothing more to say” beyond the Instagram statement.
