Sheridan Smith and James Corden were in a romantic relationship. However, they appeared as a brother and sister in reel life.
Sheridan Smith and James Corden started dating each other in 2007. They met on the show, Gavin and Stacey, on which James played the role of fool Smithy. And in that show, Sheridan appeared as his annoying sister, Rudi.
Sheridan had only a few scenes, but they were unforgettable, such as Smithy and Rudi tossing each other to the ground and performing the song American Boy by Estelle.
However, the happy pair initially split up in 2008, and it was said that James was attempting to date singer Lily Allen.
“It’s complicated,” he added, when asked if he was single.
During the interview on Lily Allen and Friends, James had been accused of flirting with Lily.
Before telling Lily, “You’re so beautiful,” James praised her and advised her, “Ignore all those people right there.” He then pointed to the audience.
Lily asked James if he was single for which he received a complicated answer.
In 2017, Lily opined that she didn’t want to shut James down when he “came on to” her because she was afraid of being labeled “cold” or “snobbish.”
James attempted to start a relationship with Lily, but said it fell apart after they became friends.
“After that, I guess I went out with Lily four or five times in total – and not once was it a real date. It always had other people involved, and it never just focused on us. ”
“I made it a goal to capture Lily for me. For my part, I wanted much more than friendship. The last time I saw her was when the truth hit me.”
Lily allowed James to stay at her home and escorted him to the spare room, where he realized that they would only be friends.
“That’s why I want to thank Lily for sparing me the discomfort of being a lovesick fool,” he concluded.
James then made a U-turn and returned to Sheridan the following February, in what was a surprising turn of events.
“Yes, Sheridan and I are back together and things are going swimmingly,” he confirmed to The Mirror in 2008. “She is the love of my life.”
He continued, “I’m ecstatic. I want to marry my lady.” Wedding bells were about to ring as he added, “I couldn’t be happier. I’d want to marry my partner.”
However, marriage was nowhere on Sheridan’s mind as she had distinct ideas of her own.
“I was considerably wilder then,” she added. “I wasn’t someone who was thinking about settling down.”
In 2009, the pair called it quits and James said he began to drink heavily, worrying that his life was out of control.
He said, “I was devastated and confused.”
“I’d had a relationship with Sheridan that was devastating when you think something may work and it doesn’t. And I felt adrift.
“And there’s a fine cocktail of emotions in that scenario. It’s confusing, it’s painful, and you’re feeling lonely for the first time in your adult life at the same time when you become somewhat well-known. It’s an extremely potent mixture.”
James met charity worker Julia Carey through his actor buddy and The History Boys co-star Dominic Copper less than a year later.
They married in 2012. They are parents to Max, Carey, and Charlotte.
Following their engagement on dating app Tinder and the birth of son Billy in May 2020, Sheridan hooked up with insurance broker Jamie Horn.
However, last year they announced their breakup and Sheridan reunited with ex-boyfriend Alex Lawler.
When it comes to James and Sheridan, the actress noted that she still feels for US talk show host.
She has seemingly confirmed that there is no bad blood on her side, stating: “I’m not in touch with James — he resides in the United States. We’d hug if I saw him here.”
“I’ve got a lot of love for him but we don’t see each other.”
One of the most popular questions among fans was why Sheridan did not appear in the long-awaited Christmas special in 2019.
In 2019, the long-awaited Christmas special was shot with most of the original cast – but Sheridan was not among them.
The expecting actress was asked if she would be in the film and replied, “I wish. I’m not going to be in it. I don’t think so.”
