Despite Will Smith’s angry response to Chris Rock on the stage of the Oscars, the latter is receiving a lot of support from his fans.
Will Smith slapped Chris Rock as the comedian insulted his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, by making a controversial joke.
Following the Academy Awards, Chris had a reason to rejoice as ticket sales for his upcoming live tour exploded.
“We sold more tickets to see Chris Rock in one night than we did in the previous month combined,” TickPick tweeted after the Oscars.
According to Variety, ticket prices have risen dramatically since the beginning of the year. Variety claims that they increased from a minimum of $46 per person on March 18th to a minimum of $341.
Chris is set to begin his tour this week in Boston, where he will perform a series of concerts before traveling across the United States and the United Kingdom for his Ego Death World Tour.
The jaw-dropping moment between Will and Chris will go down in history as one of the most stunning.
After storming on stage and striking the presenter, Will accepted his first Academy Award for his part in King Richard.
He made a chance to apologize, but it wasn’t until Tuesday that he offered his apologies in person to Chris on Instagram.
“All forms of violence are poisonous and detrimental,” his comment began. My conduct at last night’s Academy Awards was inappropriate and inexcusable, as I am aware.’ Jokes about my shortcomings are a necessary evil of the job, but one about Jada’s medical problems went too far for me to take and I let my emotions get the best of me.”
He continued: “I’d want to formally apologize to you, Chris. “I apologize for my remarks. I was out of line, and I was in the wrong. I’m ashamed, and my conduct isn’t what it should be. There is no place for physical force in a world of love and compassion.”
