Adele is shedding light on the media’s interest in her body. Adele revealed in a televised interview with Oprah Winfrey for CBS titled Adele: One Night Only that she was “surprised” when the media focused on her recent weight reduction.
Some of Adele’s fans opined in her favor of losing excess body weight. Whereas other groups of people said she has done so due to feeling pressure from unattainable Hollywood beauty standards.
I wasn’t shocked or fazed by it — my whole career, my body has been objectified. “Do people think I’m too big, do they think I’m too little, do they think I’m too hot, am I not as beautiful as them? Because of their body, I’ve never looked up to anyone,” Adele revealed when asked about how she felt about others expressing their frustration with her weight reduction.
I’ve never looked up to anyone because they had the same hair color or style as me. I was body positive then, and I’m still body confident now”It’s not my role to validate people’s feelings about their bodies—I feel ashamed that it has made others feel bad about themselves, but it is not my duty. I’m trying to work out some things in my life.”
When she was going through the height of her divorce to ex-husband Simon Konecki, working out became a form of release for the Singer.
“After I divorced my husband, I had the most awful anxiety attacks. It made me feel powerless and confused,” she explained.
“I observed how much I trusted my trainer’s presence when I was in a bad place, but also how I didn’t have any worry while working out. It became mine — me having a strategy every day when I had none before.”
