“West Side Story” star Rachel Zegler has received an invitation to the Oscars. There is news that the actress has got an invitation from the Academy to be a presenter.
It is now clear that the actress’ production schedule on the Disney movie, “Snow White” has loosened up. That’s how it is possible for the actress to attend the show live in Los Angeles instead of watching it in sweatpants from her couch.
She announced this news on her Instagram profile and shared it with her followers who poured a lot of support for Rachel Zegler to allow her to attend the show.
Zegler played Maria in “West Side Story,” for which she won the Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Musical/Comedy.
When an actor or actress isn’t nominated or isn’t a presenter, they aren’t usually invited to the Oscars. There is no obligation on the part of the Academy to extend an invitation.
However, a source tells us that Zegler’s Instagram post over the weekend referred to the casting of the Academy Awards.
We’ve learned that Disney execs wanted Zegler to be there to commemorate the Steven Spielberg film she worked on three years ago, but she had a hectic timetable on “Snow White,” and she was first on the list.
This can be costly for a studio, especially considering Disney is battling a COVID surge in the United Kingdom and a fire on the “Snow White” set at Pinewood Studios. When it comes to doing the appropriate thing, there is no cost.
According to a source at Disney, the company has always been in support of “West Side Story” and the cast, and they’re looking forward to watching Zegler at the Oscars on Sunday.
“West Side Story” has received seven Oscar nominations, including Best Picture, Best Director Steven Spielberg and Best Supporting Actress Ariana DeBose.
Debose was honored with the SAG and Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress. The Globes also gave the film Best Comedy/Musical.
