After more than a decade under conservatorship, Britney Spears continues to be on “cloud nine” following her release.
Post the official termination of her conservatorship by a Los Angeles judge, the singer celebrated her newfound “freedom” with a glass of Champagne.
“What a fantastic weekend… I felt like I was on cloud nine the entire time,” she added in a caption on Instagram.
“Last night, I had my first glass of champagne at the most beautiful restaurant I’ve ever seen. ”
According to her, 13 years is a long time and she has waited a long for her freedom from conservatorship. In an excited mood, Spears said she would turn 40 on Dec. 2 and she would be in a festive mood for the next two months.
On Friday, Judge Brenda Penny ruled out the necessity of keeping Britney Spears under conservatorship and he terminated it officially.
After breaking down in public at the age of 26, Britney Spears was placed under a conservatorship in 2008.
A crowd of supporters gathered outside the Los Angeles courthouse, as well as all over social media, erupted in cheers when news of the verdict spread.
The crowd of about 500 people whooped and threw confetti into the air. Celebrities including Cher, Paris Hilton, and Lady Gaga celebrated Spears’ return on social media.
As Spears left the courthouse after her arraignment hearing, her boyfriend Sam Asghari showed his support on Instagram by posting: “History was made today. Britney is FREE!”
“I’m so proud of (Spears),” said Spears’s lawyer, Mathew Rosengart, speaking with reporters after the hearing. “I’m grateful to her for everything, including our relationship.”
On Monday, Spears wrote on Instagram that Rosengart “truly turned my life around,” and she expressed her gratitude.
“I’m ecstatic that my lawyer, Rosengart, entered my life at the right time… I’m eternally grateful to him for that,” she added, following an explosive court testimony about her “abusive” conservatorship.
She also thanked her supporters for their continued support. “What a sight! Seeing so many people rejoice in my victory… I adore my fans.”
Spears has spoken out about her terminated conservatorship before. On Friday, Spears shared a video on Instagram from her supporters outside of court after the hearing, claiming that they were “all ecstatic.”
“I love my fans so much that it’s insane!” wrote Spears. “I’m going to bawl the rest of the day!!! Today is without a doubt the greatest day in history!!!! Thank you, God!!!!!!!”
Although the conservatorship is completed, hearings in Spears’ case are not. The following hearing will be held on Jan. 19 to address any outstanding motions and appeals in her case file.
