Hilary Swank’s father, Stephen Swank, passed away last year, and she has since discussed her grieving process.
“Last year was an important time in my life, and I know it was for a lot of people.I am not appearing online for some time due to terrible personal loss.”
On Saturday, January 1, the Freedom Writers actress, 47, uploaded a flashback Instagram photo with her father in which she wrote: “In October, my Dear Dad passed away,” after sharing a throwback photo from last year.”
“I had a unique connection with him as I was his only caregiver after a lung transplant seven years ago. I became very close to him during this time, strengthening our relationship and taking pleasure in every moment we had together.
She added, “He will always be one of my favorite people, and not a day goes by that I don’t miss him.” I was, however, awakened to the most genuine sense of living again in this physical loss, which is perhaps as devastating.
It also allowed me to better comprehend the circle of life and where we all come from and return to, which has brought me back to my authentic self.
The ability to forgive and let go of the things that are holding me back, in whatever form it takes each day, helped me overcome my past.
Another aspect of my life that has provided immeasurable joy, comfort, and peace. It is very important to me.
