Dua Lipa and Anwar Hadid have announced their breakup after two years of dating. “They’re no longer dating,” an insider confirms of the pair who were rumored to be dating in June 2019, but haven’t been spotted together since early November.
In 2019, Hadid and Lipa made headlines after they were seen together at the 20th birthday party of Hadid. In October 2019, the pair made their relationship public when they were seen together in New York City on several occasions.
Later that month, Lipa showed affection for Anwar’s family when she attended Anwar’s sister Bella’s 23rd birthday and took pictures with the entire group, including his eldest sister Gigi Hadid. The following month, the couple debuted at the 2019 American Music Awards.
During the first year of their relationship, while the former lovebirds continued to share pictures on social media, it wasn’t until May 2020 that Lipa revealed how they met each other.
Before they began dating, the British singer revealed during an appearance on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen that she messaged Anwar in his DMs.
On their one-year anniversary in June 2020, the “Levitating” artist praised her partner. “Nothing more lovely than having 365 days of joint possession with you ❤️,” Lipa added as a caption to her Instagram post.
In a February interview with British Vogue, the “Don’t Start Now” songstress revealed further details about her connection with Anwar, remarking that they are “quite quiet” for the most part.
Anwar celebrated the Grammys win by throwing his then-girlfriend a butterfly-themed bash in the next month.
In September, Lipa traveled to New York and posted a series of photographs with Anwar on Instagram. “I ❤️ NYC,” she wrote in the caption for the images, which showed them at a bar together. The pair put on costumes one month later to celebrate Halloween as an item.
However, Anwar isn’t the only family member to have recently gone through a breakup. Gigi Hadid, 26, ended her relationship with Zayn Malik earlier this year following family drama with her mother, Yolanda Hadid.
US Weekly reported in October that after attempting to work through their issues for a “time,” Gigi, who is also mom to 14-month-old Khai, “silently separated” from Malik, 28.“
The news of the split leaked a few days after Malik became notorious for an alleged altercation with Yolanda, 57, in which she said he “jabbed” her in September.
In October, the British crooner pleaded no contest to four counts of criminal offenses of stalking after previously denying that he had harmed the former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star.
Malik was sentenced to 90 days in jail for each charge, must take anger management and a domestic abuse program, and is prohibited from seeing or contacting Yolanda or the security guard who witnessed the altercation.
