What happened between Will Smith and Chris Rock at the Oscars 2022 has turned out to be a nightmare for Smith’s family. As per a report to US Weekly, the violent incident is an imaginable ‘nightmare’ for his family.
The outlet reported, “There’s a part of Will that has accepted he’ll never be able to fully repair the damage that was done.”
Until now, the Smith family has not commented on the entire slap incident except for Will Smith’s son Jaden’s tweet the night of the Oscars.
After the end of the broadcast, Jaden tweeted, “And That’s How We Do It”. He offered his support to his father and appreciated his winning the best actor award.
According to the outlet, the family is keeping quiet about the situation “to avoid attracting more attention.”
According to the outlet, “They’re well aware of the importance of keeping quiet.” Will and Jada Smith’s reps did not respond to a request for comment from Fox News.
The Academy Board of Governors postponed a meeting to discuss Smith’s slap of Rock from April 8 to this Friday.
After Smith’s resignation from the academy, this was bound to happen.
In a terse email to Fox News Digital, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences called for a board meeting Friday, April 8, at 9 a.m. Pacific Time.
The letter continues: “The meeting’s primary objective is to ‘discuss potential penalties for Will Smith as a result of his actions during the Oscars broadcast on March 27,'” according to the letter.
The meeting will take place using Zoom. Last Friday, Smith announced his resignation in a statement to Fox News Digital, stating that he had “betrayed the trust of the academy.”
After Rock cracked a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith’s bald head, mocked her for it, and made a reference to “G.I. Jane,” Rock hit him. Pinkett Smith has had difficulty with alopecia since she was young.
