Amazon Mexico is focused on SMEs and training thousands of entrepreneurs in a virtual event

Amazon's main suppliers are small and medium-sized firms, which account for around 60% of the company's overall sales.

Amazon Mexico has come forward to focus on the development of small and medium-sized companies in the country. The eCommerce giant organized the virtual event Amazon Impulsa. Through this, it organized workshops and trainings for entrepreneurs free of cost.

The training programs were meant for entrepreneurs diving into electronic commerce as well as for small & medium-sized companies selling currently through Amazon Mexico.

From the voice of e-commerce gurus and company executives, thousands of businesses learned about the benefits of utilizing Amazon’s technology, logistics capabilities, and customer service to grow their enterprises and sell online.

According to the Mexican Association for Online Sales (AMVO), as a result of the pandemic, 34% of small and medium-sized enterprises in Mexico were forced to reconsider their business plans and discovered that their only sales channel was online as a consequence of the closures of physical locations as a result of sanitary precautions.

In this sense, David Miller, Amazon Mexico’s General Director, stated that “the epidemic accelerated the adoption of e-commerce among SMEs, making it now necessary to consider sales tactics from a new perspective.”

This is reflected in the statistics, with online sales having increased by at least 81% from 2019 to the present, according to the AMVO.

The most essential event in terms of electronic commerce training for small and medium-sized companies at Amazon Impulsa was the introductory workshops on electronic commerce, inventory planning, pricing tools and approaches, advertising solutions, performance reports, export and foreign trade, among other things.

In this regard, Renata Arvizu, Amazon Mexico Marketplace Leader, stated that globally, small and medium-sized firms account for about 60% of Amazon sales, so the e-commerce firm is investing more than $ 100 million around the world to assist small companies to sell in your store.

This event included the participation and presentations of top guests such as Jorge de Lara, General Manager and VP of GCS for Mexico and Latam at American Express; Ana López Mestre, General Director of the American Chamber of Commerce Mexico; Álvaro Villar, General Director of WeWork Mexico; Mariate Arnal, among many others.

During the event, which took place virtually and attracted more than 5,000 participants from all across Mexico, local entrepreneurs were able to train and resolve their concerns in order to start selling on Amazon.com.mx.
