On Jan. 9, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association will reveal this year’s Golden Globe winners without any celebrity presenters.
Variety obtained a copy of an email sent by the Globes’ talent booker to several publicity agencies asking if their clients would be attending. However, according to reports, no celebrities have accepted.
The Golden Globes will go ahead with a minor event on January 9th to not only honor the greatest television and film performances of 2021 but also to recognize the importance of protecting creative artists across the industry.
The event will commemorate and celebrate a number of diverse, community-based initiatives that enable inclusive filmmakers and journalists to pursue their creative endeavors.
For decades, the HFPA has financially supported important under-served organizations and will continue to do so in the future.
No information was provided about how the winners will be recognized or where the Globes will be held.
“The event will have a limited number of participants, and COVID requirements include not only proof of complete vaccination, but also a booster shot and a negative PCR test,” the email stated.
During a live stream on the Globes’ YouTube page on December 13, the organization’s president Helen Hoehne and surprise presenter Snoop Dogg announced the nominees for this year’s honors.
The HFPA has yet to reveal its plans for the Jan. 9 celebration. The HFPA was criticized for a lack of diversity among its membership and unethical business practices, which led to the cancellation of this year’s telecast.
Since then, 21 additional individuals have been approved to broaden the group and new procedures have been implemented.
