Shahrukh Khan,Every Bollywood fan is aware of the scintillating love story of Shahrukh Khan and Gauri, but not many of them know about the hardship the lovebirds had to face when they were dating.
Bollywood film critic and journalist Anupama Chopra introduced her book King of Bollywood and The Seductive World of Indian Cinema to the world a few years ago. And the book has revealed a lot of lesser-known facts about King Khan to his fans.
The book outlines Shahrukh’s life, career and his love story with Gauri Chibber. In one of the segments, Chopra revealed how SRK was held at gunpoint by Gauri’s brother.
The author continued how the couple had to convince their families about their relationship and marriage. The book also shed light on the hindrances the relationship had to face and how Gauri’s father, Ramesh Chibber, was unhappy and raised objections about Shahrukh’s acting career. Gauri’s mother even approached an astrologer to break the couple apart.
However, the most shocking incident will still remain Gauri’s brother threatening SRK with a gun. The book reads, “Vikrant had a reputation of being a goonda (thug). He threatened Shah Rukh with a gun, but the posturing didn’t scare his sister’s suitor.”
Shahrukh has always been known for his sarcasm and light-hearted jokes. The actor once revealed to a leading daily about his honeymoon with his wife Gauri. He said, “When I got married, I was very poor while Gauri was middle-class, well-to-do. So like how usually everyone does, I had promised her that after we get married, ‘I’ll take you to Paris and show you the Eiffel Tower.’ But obviously, it was all a lie because neither I had the money nor I had the air tickets but somehow I convinced her.”
He continued, “Finally, we were heading to Darjeeling to shoot a song for Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman. And I felt that considering even Gauri hasn’t travelled abroad, she wouldn’t know much, so main usko Paris bolke Darjeeling le gaya (so I told her Paris and took her to Darjeeling).”
On the professional front, Gauri Khan is now a renowned interior designer and runs her own business house.
Earlier, SRK had promoted his designer wife on his Instagram handle when she redesigned their home in Delhi. The actor penned down a heartfelt note saying, “With so many memories of our early days in Delhi, the city holds a very special place in our hearts. Gauri Khan has redesigned our Delhi house and filled it with love and moments of nostalgia.” He also later announced their collaboration with hotel giant Airbnb and how he welcomes everyone to be their guest.
Shahrukh Khan is now busy with the shooting of his upcoming film Pathan, he will be seen with Deepika Padukone and John Abraham. The actor was last seen in Anand L. Rai’s Zero in 2018.
