Apple’s next augmented reality/virtual reality headset may cost in the range of $2000, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman.
Gurman sees the Apple headset coming in 2022, and he predicts it will be released a few months after Facebook’s (formerly Meta) own headset debuts, which is presently known as Project Cambria.
Gurman adds that both devices will be direct rivals for people seeking to enter the metaverse.
Mark Zuckerberg had already given a hint of Project Cambria while announcing the Meta. He announced the project to be more expensive and laced with “advanced technologies.”
The company stated that the headset would have “improved social presence, color Passthrough, pancake optics,” and that it was not a sequel to the current Oculus Rift 2 or 3.
“Project Cambria was created for people that want to experiment with cutting-edge computing.”
Gurman’s newsletter, on the other hand, claims that while Apple and Meta may compete in fitness watches now because the latter is supposed to release its own smartwatches in 2022.
Earlier, The Verge reported that the smartwatch would have two camera choices. The news had indicated that while one camera would be dedicated to video calling, the other detachable camera would be able to produce high-definition or 1080p video.
The Apple Watch does not currently include a camera, and if Meta includes one, it may set it apart in the market.
However, while there are many competitors, Apple’s supremacy in the smartwatch industry is unquestioned, and it remains the market leader.
It is known that Apple may introduce new projects which might include two new gadgets.
A speaker/TV set-top box combination camera is one example of a video camera, while a smart speaker with a screen is the second option.
Portal by Meta already includes a smart speaker with a screen, as well as the Amazon Echo Show series.
The HomePod hasn’t exactly taken the world by storm, which might explain why Apple is planning to remodel its home product line.
