Harrison Ford has agreed to star in the Apple TV+ series, Shrinking. He will play a significant 10-episode TV series role opposite Jason Segel. It is written and produced by Segel, Bill Lawrence, and Brett Goldstein.
Shrinking is a dark comedy series in which a depressed therapist (Segel) begins to break the rules and tell his patients exactly what he thinks.
He disregards his training and ethics because he is compelled to make massive, tumultuous changes in people’s lives…including his own.
Dr. Phil Rhodes, a down-to-earth, sharp as a tack “blue-collar shrink,” blunt but with an ever-present twinkle, will be played by Ford who is joining Shrinking following lengthy negotiations.
Phil is a leading expert in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, having established his own firm over the years and teaching it to his two young apprentices, Jimmy and Gaby.
Phil, who is fiercely autonomous, has recently been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, forcing him to overcome his comfort zone as he interacts with intrusive friends, estranged family members, and his legacy.
The Apple TV+ series, Shrinking, has been produced under Warner Bros. Television and Doozer Productions. It is produced by Segel, Lawrence, and Goldstein executive produce along with Doozer’s Jeff Ingold and Liza Katzer.
Harrison Ford, most recently seen in the film The Call of the Wild, is returning to his Indiana Jones 5 character. He’s represented by UTA and Ziffren Brittenham.
