During the Tuesday, March 15, episode of This Is Us, titled “The Guitar Man,” directed by Milo Ventimiglia, Kevin (Justin Hartley) took a significant step forward.
Without the aid of a nanny, Kevin traveled to the cabin with the twins. There, he discovered Cassidy (Jennifer Morrison) hard at work alongside a crew of veterans who were putting up Kevin’s new house.
He scolded Cassidy when he found out that construction had been delayed because the workers put the foundation incorrectly.
But Kevin expressed his apology after Nicky (Griffin Dunne) told him about Cassidy’s stressful condition due to the project and other personal issues for being an old age person and a single mother.
The cabin became the place where Kevin, Cassidy, Nicky, his girlfriend Edie (Vanessa Bell Calloway), Matty (Noah Salsbury Lipson), and the twins connected.
On that night, Kevin got a phone call about Cassidy that had met a car accident. Kevin and Nicky visited the hospital to know about Cassidy. They came to know that Cassidy shattered her clavicle and her arm after hitting a pole.
Nicky feared that Cassidy’s experiences in Afghanistan had overwhelmed her, but Kevin assured her she would be all right.
Kevin decided to remain at the hospital until he could see Cassidy. He pondered whether he was making the correct decision because it was the right thing to do, or if he was simply imitating someone who did the proper thing.
Cassidy informed the next morning that she didn’t sleep well and would frequent go for drives to clear her mind.
She was ecstatic when they all arrived at the cabin, and she didn’t want the night to end, yet she didn’t fight sleep or stop driving when she realized it was time to go.
However, instead of driving cautiously and skilfully, Cassidy accelerated even faster, as if he were attempting suicide behind the wheel.
Finally, after Cassidy recuperated in the cabin, Nicky called a readjustment counselor at the VA to help her. However, unlike Jack, Kevin decided that the threesome should hire more veterans to construct houses and start the company that Jack never had a chance to begin.
In a flashback to his childhood elsewhere in the episode, Kevin (Kaz Womack) wanted to go into the deep end of the community pool, but Jack (Ventimiglia) informed him he needed to learn how to swim first.
Rebecca (Mandy Moore) informed Kevin that Jack was attempting to instill good qualities in his son. Rebecca said that, whereas Jack was a womanizer, she didn’t believe Kevin would be one. Rebecca stated that Kevin was not like his father.
In a separate flashback, Kevin (Logan Shroyer) went to the pool after cheating on Sophie (Amanda Leighton).
He sat in the empty deep end since it had been drained as a result of its closure.
Kevin (Hannah Zeile) and Dr. Randall (Niles Fitch) told Kate that he didn’t have what it takes to make it in the deep end because he was shallow without a solid foundation.
He thought about giving up acting to work in construction like Jack’s father, who was a skilled craftsman.
Meanwhile, Kevin informed Kate that while he was presently a screw-up, one day he would figure things out.
