Netflix’s one of the most popular movie collections is now coming to television. The rom-com project, To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before, starring Lara Jean and Peter, made a big impact.
After the success of the Trilogy, the To All the Boys franchise is again coming up with its own TV series. Kitty, Lara Jean’s younger sister will be the main lead in this tv series.
Earlier this year, it was reported that Netflix is developing a television show about Kitty, which would continue the overall narrative of the To All the Boys saga.
On Monday, Netflix officially announced the series order for XO, Kitty, continuing a story that had previously been reported.
Jenny Han, who wrote the To All the Boys book series that inspired the TV show, will write and serve as co-showrunner on the upcoming series. Kitty will be played by Anna Cathcart, who performed in all three films.
This group is executive producing with Matt Kaplan of ACE Entertainment. The first season of XO, Kitty will have 10-30 minutes of episodes.
“Kitty Song Covey thinks she has all of the answers when it comes to love,” reads the official synopsis for XO, Kitty.
“But, when she leaves her home in New York to reconnect with her long-distance lover, she’ll soon realize that relationships are more difficult than ever before.
With a brief teaser video, Netflix dropped the bomb for all of To All the Boys fans on Twitter. The video featured an email being composed by Kitty, suggesting that there was more to the tale to come with the younger Covey sister.
“I’m sure you thought the tale was finished,” says the email from Kitty. “That there would be no more letters… But there’s another Covey sister, some may refer to her as the favorite, whose love story is just beginning.”
XO, Kitty follows the events of To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before and its sequels. Netflix has yet to announce whether other characters from the franchise will be featured in the series. Anna Cathcart is currently the only confirmed star.
