UP Minister Upendra Tiwari’s Shocking Statements on Fuel Price Hike

The price of fuel is continuously increasing and the chosen leaders have rarely anything to say. However, recently, UP Minister Upendra Tiwari ended his silence about the topic and gave a piece of his mind to the audience.

In an attempt to dismiss the criticism of sudden price hikes, the politician presented an indefinite statistic by saying that in the present scenario, no more than 5% of people are in need of petrol.

The prices of petrol have hiked tremendously this week and the common citizens are suffering the most due to it. The effects of the surge in petrol and fuel prices are not limited to these two commodities only, but it leads to an increase in the other product’s prices as well.

Upendra Tiwari, the BJP leader has served the position of MLA for two consecutive terms and served the public well. However, his recent comment upon justifying the price hike of the petrol and fuel was not taken so well. The commoners are suffering miserably due to the hike and many of those are not able to afford the prices.

At the time when the experts are worrying that the changes have been unprecedented and might have a harmful effect on the economic state of the country, such statements can create huge havoc. It was noted last week that petrol now costs 33 percent more than the price at which aviation turbine fuel (ATF) is sold to airlines.

Opposition Speaks

Priyanka Gandhi, the well-known congress leader, spoke for the plight of the commoners and slammed the BJP government for being unable to control the price of petrol under their rule.

“The BJP government promised that people wearing ‘hawai chappals’ (sandals) will soon travel in ‘hawai jahaj’ (airplanes). However, fuel prices have increased so much under the Modi government that now it has become difficult for the middle-class to afford to travel by road (sic).” tweets Priyanka Gandhi on her official Twitter handle, in Hindi.

Before getting elected in power, the BJP government promised the people to bring control to the rising prices of petrol and fuels. Having said that, the recent prices are a sign that the ruling government has not been able to stay true to the promises made and the opposition party rarely leaves any chance to jibe at the shortcomings of the party in power.
