Very likely that Europe could be moving towards Pandemic Endgame says WHO

With the Omicron variant on the rise, it is expected that with the end of the Omicron wave, the pandemic itself will end in Europe. According to WHO Europe director, Hans Kluge, coronavirus may be entering a new phase where we might get to see a pandemic endgame in the continent.

Even since the surge of the Omicron variant, there has been anxiety but also hope among people. As getting coronavirus infection is getting common, it is now thought that Covid-19 may be turning into something common like a seasonal sickness or flu. Kluge then talked about the anticipated Omicron spread.

The World Health Organization has predicted around 60 percent of citizens could get affected by this virus by the end of March. According to them, an immunity surge is very likely after the end of Omicron in Europe. This can be a result of getting infections or vaccines in other cases. The current Omicron wave is going to make people’s immunity stronger. Moreover, the covid vaccine can do the same. However, this could take weeks, months, or even longer.

Anthony Fauci, a prominent scientist has a very much similar opinion on the pandemic as WHO. As per WHO, pandemics may end but not the Covid-19. Coronavirus could continue affecting people’s lives. The WHO has anticipated that there will be some silence before a new coronavirus surge and this can happen by this year’s end. A while ago, Fauci told the media things are somehow looking good for the United States. The Covid-19 cases have dropped by a great level.

He also asserted that the picture might get even better if cases in certain parts of the US such as the northeast part proceed with a fall in covid cases. There has be several studies around Covid-19 and its variants. Studies have shown the contagious nature of Omicron in comparison with the Delta. But with vaccines, there’s still hope for endemic diseases. Covid-19 could likely become a manageable situation in the coming times. It may even turn into some kind of seasonal flu which is pretty common as well as recoverable.

On the other hand, WHO also believes that this might be too soon to say endemic. According to Kluge, it’s necessary to stay cautious as coronavirus is highly unpredictable. It has spontaneously surprised everyone with either new variants or new waves and that’s why a careful approach is vital. So, it may not be wrong to say that nobody can tell for sure what Covid-19 can turn into in the future.
