Chet Hanks has talked about his “privileged” background, saying that even though he had “advantages,” there was also a lot of “negativity” during his childhood.<\/p>\n

Chet Hanks, 31, is the son of Tom Hanks<\/a> and his wife Rita Wilson, both of whom were able to provide him with opportunities that many others do not have, such as private education.<\/p>\n

In a YouTube video yesterday, he revealed that it was “difficult” for him as a youngster because of his surroundings.<\/p>\n

When asked if there were any drawbacks to having such a successful musician as his father, Chester Hanks responded, “I’m very grateful. There have been numerous benefits because of my parents.”<\/p>\n

The celebrity<\/a> son Chet Hanks, who has appeared on shows such as Empire and Shameless, nevertheless claimed that it’s a “two-edged sword,” adding that stardom may be “explosive” but also “toxic.”<\/p>\n

He said that his campaign was “even more difficult” because he wasn’t well-known in his own right. “My dad is loved by a lot of people, but it gave me a lot of contempt,” said Simon.<\/p>\n

He said that people assumed he would be “really arrogant,” “entitled,” and “spoiled.” – He denied those characterizations, saying that he had to work for money.<\/p>\n

He said that when he was a kid, his father taught him how to wash his car in order for him to earn about $60.<\/p>\n

Chet believed that because of his father, who has won two Academy Awards, many people had “preconceived notions” about him, which were “almost impossible” to overcome.<\/p>\n

“I met a lot of contempt, animosity, and nastiness because everyone was just ready to despise my guts,” he noted in the most recent video.<\/p>\n

As a result, he stated that he developed “a chip on [his] shoulder” and was “walking around with a lot of anger,” attributing the incident to creating a “hard exterior.”<\/p>\n

He said that he conducted this in order to avoid being harassed, adding: “People have previously messed with me a lot. “He didn’t even have the balls to face me, always behind my back.”<\/p>\n

Chet<\/a> said that his “defensive and distrustful” attitude took him down the “wrong road,” because he felt that he had to “prove something” to others.<\/p>\n

“It just took me down a path of self-destruction in my twenties,” he added.<\/p>\n

He said that the jealousy and judgments of others made him feel worthless, with him confessing that he has since recognized it was because to their own insecurities.<\/p>\n

“I believed them, and I internalized it. I did feel worthless and thought that I didn’t deserve to be in my position. I didn’t feel like anything would amount to anything,” he added.<\/p>\n

Chet said that he’d been “self-conscious” about his background and upbringing, which he described as “privileged,” but now feels differently about himself in his thirties.<\/p>\n
