After an Alleged 2019 Assault, Jussie Smollett is Sentenced to 150 Days in Jail and 30 Months of Probation

Actor Jussie Smollet is sentenced to 150 days in jail and he is subjected to 30 months of probation.

Jussie Smollett is found guilty of an attack dated back to 2019. He is sentenced to 150 days in jail and sent to probation for 30 months.

During his sentencing on Thursday, March 10, Chicago’s WGN9 reports that Smollett was sentenced to 30 months of probation for the hoax. In addition, he is ordered to pay a total of $120,000 in compensation as well as a $25,000 fine.

The actor was reported to have gotten emotional after the judgment and yelled, “I’m not suicidal, and I didn’t do it.”

The Empire alum originally claimed in January 2019 that he was the target of a homophobic and racist assault.

He reported being assaulted by two individuals who doused him with an unknown chemical liquid and bound a rope around his neck.

“I’ve spoken with law enforcement and have been completely truthful and consistent on all levels. Despite my frustrations and significant concern with certain false claims and misrepresentations that have been made, I am confident that the law will be followed.”

“These kinds of cowardly attacks are happening to my sisters, brothers, and non-gender-conforming siblings on a daily basis, as stated by my family. It’s not an isolated occurrence, and I am not to be treated as such. Most importantly, there is a duty to lead with love during traumatic times, grief, and suffering. It’s all I’ve ever done. And it will not be evicted from me.”

Smollett was arraigned on a charge of falsely reporting a crime, according to Us Weekly. He was arrested and charged with 16 counts of disorderly conduct.

All criminal charges were dropped against the Mighty Ducks star in March 2019, shocking the hockey world.

After reviewing all of the facts and circumstances of the case, including Mr. Smollett’s community service and consent to forfeit his bond to the City of Chicago, we feel this outcome is a fair resolution and appropriate remedy for this situation,” according to a statement from Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office at the time.

In February 2020, the celebrity was indicted for allegedly making fraudulent reports to the cops again. The actor, who pleaded not guilty to the fresh charges, denied instigating the phony assault or lying about what occurred.

A two-month trial began on a weeklong basis in Chicago at the start of December 2021, following a delay owing to the ongoing coronavirus epidemic.

Smollett addressed his relationship with Abimbola “Bola” Osundairo and Olabinjo “Ola” Osundairo, who claimed they were paid to stage a phony racist and homophobic assault.

In response, the California native denied creating a “hoax” with the brothers for media attention. Smollett claimed that he was intimate with Abimbola while telling the police, “I made a mistake. He creeped me out. Every time we were around him, he didn’t talk to me.” He made it appear like we had to sneak away every time we had to go.

However, Smollett claimed that Abimbola had a sexual relationship with him, but the actor denied it. He said he followed through on the alleged request to “fake beat up” him because he felt like he was in debt to him for his greater part on Empire.

Jussie Smollett was found guilty of five out of six felony counts of disorderly conduct in the very month.
