Jennifer Aniston opened up about people’s assumptions on choosing her ‘career over kids’. The 52-year-old actress revealed to a leading magazine how people’s attention to her personal life affected her professional life.
Aniston said, “Well, people certainly project onto you and all that, but my job is to go, ‘Listen, I’ll show you what I’m capable of, and you decide if you want to subscribe’.”
She continued, “So, you disappear as much as you can, you have fun, you take on these weird roles, you don’t give a s***, you enjoy yourself, you remember that you have a gorgeous group of friends and your life is blessed and you do the best that you can.”
Jennifer also revealed how her pregnancy rumors and her choice ‘career-over-kids’ speculation affected her mentally. She said, “It’s like, ‘You have no clue what’s going with me personally, medically, why I can’t … can I have kids?’ They don’t know anything, and it was really hurtful and just nasty.”
This is not the first time the Friends star has opened up about the issue. Earlier, in 2014, before she got married to her ex-husband Justin Theroux, Jennifer had to face media speculations about the same thing.
She answered to a leading daily, “Oh, God, so many painful things,” and continued, “the accusation that I’ve put my career before the want, the desire to be a mother. This continually is said about me: that I was so career-driven and focused on myself; that I don’t want to be a mother, and how selfish that is.”
The actress also gives her notion of becoming a mother, “I don’t think it’s fair. You may not have a child come out of your vagina, but that doesn’t mean that you aren’t mothering — dogs, friends, friends’ children,” she had poured her heart out and said, “Its quite rude, insulting, and ignorant. Even saying it gets me a little tight in my throat.”
Jennifer is an animal lover and mother of two beautiful dogs. She is often seen sharing photographs of her fur-babies on her social media handle.
Recently, Aniston celebrated the first birthday of her pet dog and shared a couple of beautiful pictures with him. She wrote, “One year with my loveable, squeezable. I’ll call it…Talkative(barks at air), cuddly and not-so-little anymore. Lord Chesterfield.”
Jennifer introduced him when she adopted him from a rescue team. She took to Instagram to share the news with her fans, she wrote, “Hi! I’d like to introduce to you the newest member of our family. This is(a very tired) Lord Chesterfield. He stole my heart immediately.” She later thanked the rescue team as well.
The actress even takes her pet Clyde to work. She called it, “Girl’s best friend.”
Jennifer Aniston came into the spotlight with her iconic role Rachel Green in the 90s hit sitcom Friends. Since then, she has been giving back-to-back hit Hollywood movies. The actress currently stars in another hit drama series, The Morning Show, for which she bagged Screen Actors Guild Award.
