Peter Aykroyd, a writer and actor on ‘Saturday Night Live,’ has Passed Away at the age of 66

Peter Aykroyd, a popular writer and SNL star has left the world at 66. The popular sketch comedy series has paid tribute to Aykroyd during an episode of the show.

Peter Aykroyd, a renowned writer and actor on the “Saturday Night Live” show has passed away at the age of 66. He was the brother of Dan Aykroyd, an actor known for the film, “Ghostbusters.”

During this week’s episode of “Saturday Night Live,” which was hosted by “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” actor Simu Liu, the popular sketch comedy series paid homage to Aykroyd.

Following that, the program showed a card informing us of Aykroyd’s death, which was accompanied by a photograph from his time as a featured player on Saturday Night Live from 1979 to 1980.

Along with it, the official “Saturday Night Live” Twitter account uploaded an old film in which Peter Aykroyd played his role as “Java Junkie.” The sketch depicts a man who can’t stop drinking cup after cup of coffee like a 1950s noir-style narrative.

When he’s thrown out, he flees to the streets of New York City, where he ingests as much coffee as possible. In the end, he’s adopted by Maxwell House, where he is taught how to kick the habit.

After that, there’s a title card dedicated to the late writer/actor. According to Deadline, Aykroyd started his comedy career with modest parts on “The New Avengers” and “SCTV,” where his brother was also a cast member.

He was given outstanding writing in a music or variety show Emmy nomination along with many other writers at the time during his yearlong stint on “SNL.”

Peter was a paranormal enthusiast like his brother. He created the Canadian series PSI Factor: Chronicles of the Paranormal. Also, he wrote the 1991 movie “Nothing but Trouble” with the help of his brother.

Aykroyd was known for playing roles based on his brother. Although he was not a part of “Ghostbusters”, he did give his voice in the “The Blues Brothers” cartoon series with Jim Belushi.

They provided the voices for their brothers Dan and John, in the live-action film and “SNL.”
