Rosie O’Donnell Apologizes To Priyanka Chopra For An ‘Awkward’ Encounter

Rosie O'Donnell offers her apology to Priyanka Chopra for considering her as the daughter of the author, "Deepak Chopra."

Ooops! After claiming to be the daughter of author Deepak Chopra, Rosie O’Donnell apologized to Priyanka Chopra Jonas “inadvertently” believing she was his daughter.

On Monday, February 21, Rosie O’Donnell was dining at Nobu in Malibu when she noticed Chopra Jonas, 39, and Nick Jonas, 37, at the table next to her. “So I said, ‘Hi, Nick Jonas, you were great in Kingdom,’” O’Donnell recalled in a TikTok video, before she then addressed the Matrix actress.

“‘Hi, I know your father,’ ” he recounted. “’Who’s your dad? She asks me that.’ And I say to her, ‘Deepak,'” the former talk show host continued. “She goes, ‘No.” O’Donnell apologized for her mistake in a video that was posted soon after the lunch, stating that she was “so ashamed.”

The day after, the comedian released a second video to TikTok, clarifying that when the mix-up occurred, “the Quantico alum wasn’t rude.” It was just weird,” she continued. “I’m sure she’s sick of it by now. I’m sure I’m not the only one [who was perplexed].”

O’Donnell added that she wants to apologize to her as the mistake she made was really embarrassing and inappropriate.

Dr. Ashok Chopra, the actual father of Priyanka Chopra Jonas, died in 2013 after a lengthy battle with cancer. The pair had a close relationship, and Isn’t It Romantic actress Diane Keaton revealed in her 2021 book Unfinished that she “fell into a depression” after his death.

The Bollywood & Hollywood celebrity entered a state of depression after losing her father to cancer. She expressed how difficult it was for her to continue her life.

“I felt lonely, sad and alienated when I wasn’t numbed. Because I didn’t tell anybody, no one understood what was going on inside me. I’m not implying there weren’t a few bright spots; times when I appreciated the world around me; mercifully, yes.”

In January, Priyanka Chopra became a mother for the first time, when she and Jonas, 29, welcomed their daughter.

“We are ecstatic to announce that we have a newborn through surrogacy,” they wrote on Instagram at the time. “During this unique period, we ask for compassion as we focus on our family. Thank you so much for your support.”

Following their engagement in December 2018, the actress and Jonas have been vocal about their desire to have a kid.“We’d be happy with any kid, whether it’s a son or a daughter,” said the Voice coach to Extra in February 2021. “I’m hoping her mother will have an opinion on names. My family will want to say something as well.”

After one month, Jonas said to Zane Lowe, “I’m looking forward to being a father,” adding, “I know it’ll happen when it’s supposed to and we’re ready for it.”
