Sources confirm to Deadline that the shutdown was due to a complaint against Bill Murray for bad conduct, in light of the announcement that production on Being Mortal has been halted.
Although it is uncertain what Murray’s position in the project will be now that the investigation is ongoing, his involvement has been confirmed. According to sources, Aziz Ansari — who stars, produces, and directs the film with Youree Henley — was not linked to the complaint. Seth Rogen was also absent from the allegations.
According to the firm, it does not comment throughout pending investigations.
A formal complaint was submitted last week, with production being halted Monday, and the decision was subsequently made to cease manufacturing going forward as the inquiry continues.
Information regarding the production’s suspension was given to the cast and crew in a letter delivered by the studio last night. Being Mortal: Medicine and What Matters in the End is a nonfiction book by Atul Gawande, on which the movie is based.
Sources claim that filming had begun on March 28, and it was halfway completed before the production was unexpectedly shut down this week. Earlier, the film was slated to release in 2023.The premiere date has not yet been set.
