HBO’s dark comedy series The White Lotus has enlisted Aubrey Plaza as a lead in the second installment.
The second confirmed cast member for the sequel to Mike White’s breakout social satire limited series is Plaza, a Parks & Recreation and Legion alumna who will be a recurring player. She’ll join previously cast Michael Imperioli in the forthcoming sequel.
The six-part original program followed people visiting the White Lotus, a luxurious Hawaiian resort.
The second part, which is also written, produced and directed by White, will depart Hawaii for a new site and follow another group of vacationers at yet another White Lotus resort.
Harper Spiller will be featured, a female on holiday with her husband and his pals. Imperioli appears in the film as Dominic Di Grasso, a father traveling with his elderly father and recent college-graduate son.
It’s been reported that the main cast, in particular Jennifer Coolidge, may be returning. White serves as an executive producer with David Bernad and Mark Kamine.
Plaza will next be seen in Guy Ritchie’s Operation Fortune: Ruse De Guerre, opposite Jason Statham, Hugh Grant, and Josh Hartnett.
She also acts and produces the crime drama series, Emily the Criminal, which will premiere at the 2022 Sundance Film Festival.
She is working on the upcoming Hulu drama series Olga Dies Dreaming, which is based on the book by Xochitl Gonzalez.
Plaza has recently completed filming on Best Sellers, which will premiere in the fall at the Berlin Film Festival.
Ingrid Goes West, which she produced, won the 2021 Imagen Award for Best Actress and the 2018 Independent Spirit Award for Best First Feature.
MGMT, CAA, and Schreck Rose Dapello Adams Berlin & Dunham are representing the plaza.
