The New ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ Trailer Lit up the Internet

On Wednesday, Disney+ premiered its first official trailer for “Obi-Wan Kenobi,” a new series in the “Star Wars” franchise. The live action program, which will be released on May 25, features six episodes.

It’s the 45th anniversary of “Star Wars” director George Lucas‘ first feature film, which debuted in 1977.

Ewan McGregor will once again play the wise space wizard, with Hayden Christensen reprising his role as Darth Vader’s sinister life-support suit.

Moses Ingram, Joel Edgerton, Bonnie Piesse, Kumail Nanjiani, Indira Varma, Rupert Friend, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Sung Kang, Simone Kessell, and Benny Safdie are among the cast.

The series was directed by Deborah Chow and executive produced by Kathleen Kennedy, Michelle Rejwan, Ewan McGregor, and Joby Harold.

On Wednesday, the trailer’s release resulted in a lot of buzz on Twitter, with “Star Wars” being among the top topics for several hours.

The official series’ Twitter account greeted fans with a simple, “Hello there,” as soon after the trailer was unveiled.

The TV series is followed by “The Mandalorian,” which debuted with the new streaming service in November 2019.

The series is a Star Wars spinoff, and it’s been running for two seasons. The studio has announced spinoffs that are all set within the “Star Wars” universe, beginning with “Obi-Wan Kenobi.”
